Why blog? I blog about books simply because I love reading.
Why marginalia? marginalia was originally called Bookish Little Me. It featured a photo of my actual copy of The Wizard of Oz, my favorite book of all time.
But in the second year of my blogging, I changed its name, banner, and over-all appearance, and called it marginalia to show that these "reviews" are essentially marginal notes that are published on a different platform.
Here and now. My preference in reading materials has evolved over the years to become eclectic - I read practically everything. I prefer fiction to non-fiction, though.
Favorite authors. In no particular order: David Mitchell, Jhumpa Lahiri, Kazuo Ishiguro, Neil Gaiman, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Jeffrey Eugenides, Junot Diaz, Anne Rice, Khaled Hosseini, Yann Martel, Eleanor Catton.
Book club. I am an active member of the Goodreads-based book club, The Filipino Group (TFG) since 2010. Come join us?
Oh, and also. I am a government lawyer, wife to a litigation lawyer slash high fantasy purist, and mother to an adorable preschooler who loves storytelling and preening in front of the mirror.
- This blog contains annotations, reactions, and mere opinions regarding the books that I've read. It's nomenclature, but I prefer not to call them reviews, in the strict sense of the word. My views and opinions on books that I have read, as published here, are solely and completely my own.
- Should my readers find either grammatical or typographical errors in my posts, I will welcome the discreet correction but I would appreciate it more if it could simply be overlooked or disregarded. Thank you for your understanding and discretion.
